Personal and Leadership Coaching

It is not enough just to develop teams. It is also critical in developing collaboratively mature leaders. Dr Neil Preston, is an experienced Organisational Psychologist, well trained and competent in both interpersonal and transpersonal psychology. Both forms of psychology are needed in today’s business environments. It is not enough to know about your personality type, leadership style or cognitive biases (interpersonal psychology), it is also important to be open to other’s perspectives, authentic in concern for others and genuinely interested in other people’s ideas (transpersonal psychology) for high performance to emerge. Both the interpersonal and transpersonal are considered in our coaching models.

This unique technique of coaching and development focuses not only on the leader but how the leader works with others to seek the hard work of shared goals. The unique focus of PsyOpus coaching services is to understand the psychological conditions to establish collaborative maturity in individuals and teams.

Mediation Services

Mediation services can be offered where conflict resolution may be required between 2 or 3 people within the leadership team. This mediation service is available ‘off line’ from the workshop process where an independent and highly skilled mediator like Dr Neil Preston can be used to reduce interpersonal conflict or misunderstanding that may arise from time to time in a difficult time pressured environment like delivering major projects. These services are highly effective as a ‘preventative strategy’ to keep the team and project performing at its very best.

Team Alignment Services

In order to achieve peak performing teams, there are three essential domains of performance that need to be addressed these being – Foundational – Relational and Tranformational Features. Dr Preston has worked with some of the very best peak performing teams in some of the largest infrastructure projects in Australia.

Dr Preston understands that transformational performance in teams can only occur when the hard work of foundational goal and role clarity is achieved. In addition the relational aspects of psychological safety and power neutrality are needed for teams to be as their very best. Dr Preston is a master at developing collaboratively mature teams and leaders.

Organisational Development

Dr Preston is well acquainted to complex systems theory and how complex systems organise themselves to become functional or dysfunctional, particularly in large scale private and public organisations. Since most organisational systems like project management and program delivery are becoming increasingly more complex and interdependent, it is important to understand the conditions which enable strong collaboration both within and between organisations. Dr Preston has worked on some of the largest project alliances in Western Australia, and over the past 15 years he has developed a sharp eye on what conditions are conducive for collaborative performance within and organisation and what disables this performance. Setting the right conditions for high performance is critical to the success of complex project delivery. Without these conditions it is difficult for leaders to manage success.
